Updated March 30, 2015

Considered one of the jewels of Europe for its streets, its buildings, its museums, its squares, its canals and its atmosphere, in this post we tell you what you cannot miss in a day in Amsterdam.

We start with a typical Dutch recommendation, as well as healthy, such as renting a bicycle for your tour of the city during the day, which we will talk about at night later...

Amsterdam museums

Did you know that Amsterdam is the city with the largest group of museums in the world per square kilometer?

Since you won't have time to visit them all in 24 hours, you have to select. The most important are: the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Hermitage Museum and the Rijksmuseum.

The Rijksmuseum marks the arrival to Museumplein, Museum Square surrounded by grass, where the famous sign is located “I am Amsterdam” where you can't stop taking a photo. The Rijksmuseum is an imposing building where Rembrandt's world-famous “Night Watch” is exhibited.

One of them (especially if you are sports fans) is the Amsterdam Arena, the legendary AFC Ajax stadium where major European finals, Euro Cup matches, etc. have been played. They offer guided tours that last 1 hour and a half, including the stadium and the museum.

An activity that at The Fun Plan we consider mandatory, especially if you travel in a group, is to board a cruise ship and get lost in the labyrinth of the 120 canals that criss-cross Amsterdam, which have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010.

Other places that you cannot miss They are “Dam Square” from which you will go on a walk through the “red light district”; the Rembrandt House; he Vondelpark or the famous and attractive Bloemenmarkt either Flower market.

Although not everyone thinks the same, we believe that coffee-shops are part of the places to visit in Amsterdam. That is why we offer the coffee-shop tour on our website and from the success it has we see that we are not the only ones who think this way hehe.

Night party

At night, the best place to start the party is the famous Red Light District.

It is advisable to move between the streets Damstraat, Zeedijk, Kloveniersburgwal, Warmoesstraat and Oudezijds voorburgwal, yes, with a map in hand so as not to get lost.

There are a lot of restaurants, bars, pubs, discos or strip-clubs to choose from (our bachelor party groups in Amsterdam know this very well) although if you want to spend a night in Amsterdam like the locals do, the best option is do our bar tour with disco admission. This way you guarantee the best places and discounts on them.

Other “nightlife” areas in Amsterdam are Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. If you are there for more than one weekend it is advisable to visit them.

And if you don't have a place to sleep, you can easily reserve it. As?
