10 PLACES YOU SHOULD NOT MISS IN MALLORCA

It is one of the most touristic islands in the Mediterranean, a destination where good temperatures and paradisiacal beaches are present all year round and also offers the best communications with Europe; I am undoubtedly talking about Mallorca. It is an island that, although it is ideal to visit in summer, can be visited at any time since the leisure and cultural options it offers are countless.

Palma Cathedral

For me it has been one of the most beautiful religious temples I have seen in my life; Not only because its proximity to the sea makes it seem like it is the 'watchman' of the Mediterranean, but because the Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca has a unique beauty both on the outside and inside.

Bellver Castle

Another activity that cannot be missed on a trip to the Majorcan island is a visit to Bellver Castle, the only round-shaped castle left in Europe. Due to its height and its proximity to the sea, you can imagine that the views are spectacular from its towers. Of course, in my case I climbed the stairs to the castle and it was a tiring climb, but it was definitely worth it. Although the entrance price is 2 euros at a reduced rate and 4 euros for adults, on Sundays you can enter without any cost.

Spanish village

A very pleasant area to walk during the sunset and get closer to different corners of the country without having to leave Mallorca, is the Pueblo Español; an area very similar to the one previously created in Barcelona. In addition to recreating the most unique streets, squares or buildings of certain Spanish towns, there are numerous bars where you can have a snack; I especially recommend the area dedicated to Córdoba and Granada.

Caves of Drach

Although in my case I did not have a car the day I visited the Cuevas del Drach, I took a bus from the center of Palma that took me to the other side of the island, to the town of Porto-Cristo. There is one of the most visited natural jewels of the Balearic Islands, the Cuevas del Drach. They offer a pleasant walk among rocks and nature to end with a boat ride through the interior where you can listen to and see a beautiful music and light show.

Boat trip through the port

And for those who after Boat tour For the Cuevas del Drach they 'know little', we recommend not leaving the island without taking a short cruise through the port of Palma. There are several companies that offer this journey along the southwest coast of the island, the duration is approximately one hour and just for the sight that the Cathedral offers seen from the sea, it is worth it.

Changing of the Royal Guard

In addition to the fact that the Almudaina Palace is one of the monuments that all travelers should visit, it is especially important because one of the city's free shows takes place at its doors: the Changing of the Royal Guard. Under the watchful eyes of hundreds of tourists, the perfectly uniformed soldiers carry out their coordinated movements during the last Saturday of each month at noon.

On horseback along the Paseo Marítimo

Are you traveling as a couple? Are you spending a family vacation? You can turn your trip to Mallorca into a few days full of magic and romance if you take a horseback ride along the seashore and through the center of the capital. You will see that the carriages are located next to the area of the Almudaina Palace and the Cathedral and it will be a nice souvenir to take with you from the island.

Arab baths

Today, there are few remains left by the Muslim culture on the island of Mallorca, however, in Palma you can visit one of them: the Arab Baths. You will visit the main entrance, the room where the baths took place, you will be able to see many arches still in good condition and a beautiful and well-kept garden in the annex patio.

It can be visited all year round and the entrance price is 2 euros.

Portals Nous Beach

Although in my case I was staying in an apartment in the center of Palma, I did not visit the capital's beach. I preferred to take a bus every day that would take me to the most beautiful coves, and closest to the city. And of all of them, the one I liked the most was Platja de Portals Nous. It could be considered the 'Marbella' of Mallorca since the most exclusive boats and yachts on the island are located in its port. Of course, the turquoise and transparent water and the fine, practically white sand will make you believe that you are in paradise.

Sóller Train

And finally, and especially if you travel with your family to Mallorca, you must do an activity that is more than 100 years old: the train journey from Palma de Mallorca to the town of Sóller. The latter is on the western coast of the island, almost 30 kilometers away and has been carried out daily since 1912. The price is 19.50 euros for tourists and 12 euros for residents of Mallorca.

And if you don't have a place to sleep, you can easily reserve it. As?
